I grew up in Washington, DC and graduated from Wilson High School in Tenleytown. Per family tradition, I attended the University of Wisconsin, where I studied political science and psychology, learned that cheese curds and beer taste good, and interned for Senator Herb Kohl. That internship turned into a full-time job when I graduated from college and moved back to DC. I worked in Senator Kohl’s DC office for over five years, the last three as his legislative assistant for a portfolio that included national security, taxes, and budget. I currently work at Center for American Progress as Director of Fiscal Policy, where my work focuses on the tax and spending decisions within the federal budget.
